Getting Started

What is a Tabletop Roleplaying Game, and how can I start learning how to play?

A Tabletop Roleplaying Game (TTRPG) is a collaborative storytelling game that can be likened to an adventure genre video game. A Game Master like myself creates a world to explore, non-player characters (NPCs) to interact and barter with, and enemies to battle. Players create their own characters with individual backstories and roleplay as those characters in this world. It’s like writing a novel with a group, minus the need for Grammarly. Tabletop games like D&D are popular because of the freedom they offer. Unlike a video game that has hard limits on what you can do, the Game Master is a person, therefore able to be creative. You can do more in a TTRPG than any video game could accommodate.

Learning to play a TTRPG can be daunting, but it can be done, and sometimes the best way to learn a job is on the job. So sign up for a campaign today and learn the easy and fun way: by rolling the dice.
